Almost £5,000 Raised in memory of Robbie Lea
Almost £5,000 has been raised in memory of Robbie Lea who tragically drowned in a lake at Lee Valley Park in Cheshunt.
The 16-year-old had gone for a swim with his friends in the North Metropolitan Pit on Thursday, May 25, when he got into difficulties.
Following the news of his death, Through The Fight set up a Just Giving page with the permission of Robbie’s family.
Shane handed over a cheque for £4839.52 to the family of Robbie Lea.
The money initially was planned to go towards Robbie’s funeral but will now go to the water safety campaign set up by his mother, Sarah Lea.
Robbie’s mother, Sarah Lea, now plans to use the funds to educate other youngsters about the dangers water can pose at schools across the region.
Sarah said: “It was just unbelievable that someone who does not know me or my family would do something like this.
“We want to get people into schools and raise awareness and find out what else needs funding.
“I never want another parent to go through this, Robbie did not know about the dangers of swimming in water.
